Clerkenwell Office Fit Out
Following the successful launch of their new brand, our client approached Foursquare Workspace with an exciting brief: to design and deliver a workspace that reflected their renewed identity. The vision was clear from the outset — to create a fresh, industrial loft-inspired environment that would combine creativity, functionality, and a sense of authenticity. The project required careful consideration of every design element, from materials and finishes to lighting and furniture, to bring the industrial aesthetic to life without sacrificing comfort or practicality.
Plan
Every successful fit out begins with understanding the client’s goals, and this project was no exception. The process started with an initial consultation, where our design team met with the client to discuss their vision in detail. Through in-depth conversations, we identified the specific requirements of each area within the office, ensuring that both the design and layout supported the company’s day-to-day operations as well as its evolving brand identity.
From these discussions, our design team began to develop a concept that balanced the raw, urban feel of an industrial loft with the functionality expected of a modern office environment. The idea was to celebrate texture, light, and openness — using exposed materials and structural design elements to evoke a sense of creativity and energy throughout the space.
To communicate our ideas clearly, we prepared comprehensive mood boards for each area of the office. These visual presentations showcased material finishes, colour palettes, and product suggestions that captured the client’s brief. By including examples of flooring, wall finishes, furniture, and lighting concepts, we helped the client visualise how each zone would come together cohesively. These boards became a valuable collaborative tool, allowing the client to refine their preferences and make informed decisions about textures, tones, and overall aesthetic direction.
Works
With the design concept finalised, the project moved into the fit out stage. Our skilled installation team began transforming the empty space into a vibrant, fully functional office environment. The client had carefully selected high-quality finishes, which we implemented alongside structural design features that emphasised the building’s character and architectural details. This included the use of exposed brickwork, visible ceiling structures, and industrial-style lighting that together delivered the urban “wow factor” the client desired.
Each element of the design was chosen not only for its visual appeal but also for its durability and practicality. The industrial loft theme required a careful balance — maintaining the rugged charm of raw materials while ensuring the workspace remained comfortable, inviting, and conducive to productivity.
Once the structural and decorative work was complete, we moved on to the furniture installation phase. A curated selection of contemporary and ergonomic pieces was chosen to complement the overall theme. This included soft seating areas for informal meetings, task chairs and workstations designed for comfort and efficiency, and Sit-Stand desks to promote wellbeing and flexibility. The addition of integrated storage solutions helped maintain the clean, uncluttered aesthetic, while feature lighting added warmth and definition to each space.
Attention to detail was key — from the finishes on metal frames and timber accents to the placement of each fixture and fitting. Every decision was made to ensure that the office not only looked striking but also performed effectively for the people using it every day.
Result
The final result is an inspiring, contemporary workspace that perfectly encapsulates the client’s new brand identity. The industrial loft aesthetic delivers a strong visual impact while remaining functional, flexible, and comfortable. The combination of textures — metal, wood, and concrete tones — along with thoughtful lighting and furniture choices, creates a space that feels both modern and timeless.
To ensure minimal disruption to the client’s business, the installation was completed outside of regular working hours, demonstrating our commitment to delivering a seamless experience from start to finish.
